The Stags are undefeated this season going 8-0 and scoring a record 462 whilst conceding only 20.
The Mariners finished second in the South East division at 5-3. Scoring 151 points and conceding 99. They are ranked #8 in the South.
Win and the Stags move on to the semis, lose and they're out.
It's all or nothing.
Sunday’s game will see the STAGS tested against a team outside their division for the first time this season. The MARINERS, having fought their way out of the tough Southern-South East Division and boasting one of the toughest defenses in the league, the STAGS can’t afford to rest on their laurels.
In the MARINERS short history they have only faced the Stags the once – season 06/07 (last year) in game 05, the week before the Christmas break. The STAGS had not played a game of competitive football in two weeks and Greenwich were coming off the back of two narrow defeats to tough opposition. Both teams were looking to regain momentum going into the mid-season break.
A Close game full of hard hitting and solid running saw the STAGS take a 28-3 half-time lead. The second half, although mostly played in the dark, was a scoreless gritty defensive affair. No doubt Greenwich will be hoping to make their presence felt and (among other priorities) redress the balance in the Head-to-Head. The STAGS certainly won’t be taking the challenge lightly and both teams know that the past is not a guide to the future.
Should the STAGS prevail they will likely be looking forward to hosting Bath or a re-match versus Royal Holloway in the Southern Conference Semis, should the MARINERS take the honours they face a road trip to either of the same teams.
At this stage of the season the whether 8-0 or 5-3 what matters most is who maintains composure and performs on the day. Who will be moving onward and who will be starting their off-season early?

'Perfect' STAGS Back On Top
|
 The undefeated Southampton STAGS faced the undefeated Staffordshire STALLIONS in the inaugural BUAFL Championship Game.
The STAGS had won the National Title 2 seasons previously in a year when they had set the points record and greatest final victory in college history, the 07/08 side had an offence just as potent and a defence that conceded only 4 touchdowns all season.
They faced a Staffordshire STALLIONS side led by the rushing attack of #34 Ed Goka, top in rushing yards and touchdowns league-wide.

The Southern Conference Final saw the undefeated STAGS host the undefeated HURRICANES in what promised to be the best game in the South this season.
With free-scoring offences and consistently mean but understated defences, there was little to choose between them going into the game.
The winner will go on for a shot at the inaugral BUAFL National Championship Title, in the first BUAFL National Championship Game [College Bowl XXII in old money|Ed] taking on the Northern Conference Champions, Staffordshire STALLIONS.
